Properties And Fastness

Properties And Fastness Of Leather Dyestuff Have Been Assessed. When The Proper Method Is Available, According To The International I.U.F. Rules. The Figures,
referred To The Grey Scales Or Other Evaluation Methods, Take The Usual Meanings: 1-Poor, 3-Fair, 5-Very Good.

(A) Solubillity Test Methods :

Test Method: IUF 201
Solubility Is Expressed As The Maximum Number Of Grams Dyestuff Which Remains In Solution In 1 Liter Of Distilled Water At 60°c/140F.

(B) Colour Fastness To Perspiration:

Test Method: IUF 426,
By Fastness Of Colour Of Leather To Perspiration Is Meant Its Resistance To The Prolonged Action Of An Artifical Perspiration Solution

(C) Colour Fastness To Mild Washing:

Test Method : IUF 423
This Method Is Intended For Determining The Change of Colour And The Stain on The Surface Of Adjucent Textile While Mild Domestic Washing.

(D) Colour Fastness To Light : Xenon Lamp

Test Methods : IUF 402,
This Method Is Intended For Determining The Resistance Of The Colour Of Leather To The Action Of A Standard Artificial Light Source. The Xenon Lamp Has An emission Wavelength Profile Close To Daylight. The Values Reported Are For Dyeing On Full Grain Chrome Leather. It Should Be Clearly Understood That The Light
fastness Rating Obtained Will Change Significantly Depending On The Type Of Leather And Amount Of Dye Applied.

(E) Penetration

The Dye Penetration Is Tested On Freshly Tanned Chrome Calf Leather (neutralized And Subsequently Dyed) And On Crusted Chrome Suede Leather.
Assessment (Leather Cross - Section): 5 = Complete Penetration, 4 = 75% Penetration, 3 = 60% Penetration, 2 = 30% Penetration, 1 = Superficial Cooling

(F) Colour Fastness To Migration In To Plasticized PVC:

Test Method : IUF 442 ,
The Colour Fastness In Respect Of Migration Into Plasticised Poly(vinyl Chloride) - PVC - Is The Transfer Of Colour From Leather To White Plasticised PVC At 50°C.
